A new season of Merge Tactics is… emerging… this March! And this isn’t just any ordinary season—from this season onwards, all Merge Tactics seasons will be 6 weeks long, giving you plenty of time to rack that Starsteel up and complete the Starsteel road!
From playing with friends to Equipment Modifiers and a new Ruler, read on to find out what else is new in Merge Tactics.
Balance Changes - April 2nd
We’ve made several changes to certain troops to keep things balanced!
Giant Skeleton

Stun Duration: 2s > 1/2/3/5s
P.E.K.K.A
HP: 1400 > 1600 (+14%)
Dart Goblin
Attack Range: 5 > 4 (-20%)
Attack Damage: 70 > 80 (+14%)
Play With Your Pals!
The more, the Mergier! You can now compete with your friends to find out once and for all who the wisest strategist is. Invite up to three friends to your party by tapping one of the big ol’ ‘+’ symbols on the Merge Tactics menu screen, then queue up for a game as normal to give it a go! Keep in mind that things will be a little different depending on how many friends you’re playing with.
When playing with just one friend, you’ll be able to earn Starsteel and other rewards as normal—IF you place within the top 2. However, for the sake of fairness, you won’t be able to see who your next opponent is during the match.
When playing with more than one friend, the match will be treated like a friendly battle. You won’t earn Starsteel or other rewards from playing, but isn’t having a good time with your buddies the greatest reward of all? You’ll also be able to see who your next opponent is during the match like usual.
Equipment
Are you equipped to deal with your enemies? Well, now you will be…
Equipment gives your troops an edge in battle—literally! When equipment is available (through Modifiers or Ruler abilities, for example), an icon depicting the equipment will appear above your Troop Bench. Like this Shield!
Drag this icon onto one of your troops to equip it, or tap it to view its stats and effects. Every piece of equipment is different, so make sure to strategize and assign it to the troop that can use it best! Between rounds, you can unequip the item by tapping on the troop and then the equipment. Selling the troop will automatically unequip the item.
Keep in mind that all equipment has durability, meaning its effect will only last for a certain number of hits during a round. Durability refreshes at the end of every round, so you’ll be able to use it again next time.
Equipment Modifiers
The following modifiers will allow you to get your hands on some shiny new equipment for the duration of the battle!
Fisherman’s Hook
Grants an equippable Hook that allows the troop wielding it to pull in the furthest enemy within 4 tiles. Reel ‘em in!
Valkyrie’s Axe
Grants an equippable Axe that allows the troop wielding it to deal area-of-effect damage. Swing it!
Prince’s Lance
Grants an equippable Lance that allows the troop wielding it to knock enemies back 2 tiles. En garde!
Maiden’s Shield
Grants an equippable Shield that allows the troop wielding it to block all damage until it breaks. A definitive defense!
New Ruler: Dagger Duchess Dashes In!
Dagger Duchess found out that other Rulers have been calling her Princess, and she’s NOT happy about it. Naturally, she had no choice but to give her troops sharp objects and send them after her enemies.
No, seriously—Dagger Duchess’ Ruler Ability, Dagger Donation, allows her to equip a troop with a Dagger, which grants them extra attack speed and range until the equipment breaks after 8 hits. Knives out!
Unlock Dagger Duchess through the Starsteel Road or by purchasing one of her skins in the Shop.
New Traits
Train yourself to use 5 brand-new Traits!
Dragon
No more dragon things out. Troops with the Dragon trait end things quickly by dealing extra damage to melee troops—and taking reduced damage from them!
2 troops: -50% damage taken, +50% damage
Hinder
Hinders have a 40% chance to temporarily slow their enemies’ attack and movement speed whenever they hit them! Talk about a hindrance.
2 Troops: -30% movement and hit speed
Marksman
Marksmen have +1 range and do extra damage to enemies that are more than 4 tiles away. So mark that down.
2 troops: +30% damage
4 troops: +60% damage
Tank
Good luck taking Tanks down—they start healing rapidly after falling below 50% health!
2 troops: +40% max HP
4 troops: +80% max HP
Warrior
A true Warrior doesn’t need a sword… but it definitely helps! Warriors gain bonus damage and hit speed for 8 seconds at the start of each battle.
2 troops: +30% damage, +30% Hit Speed
4 troops: +60% damage, +60% Hit Speed
Other Trait Changes
Sounds like a lot? Don’t worry, because these 5 Traits are rotating out, so you’ll have less to remember:
Blaster
Brawler
Brutalist
P.E.K.K.A
Ranger
Additionally, Giants are now Titans, and the Fire Trait is back!
New Troops
Say hello to my comparatively little friend… and my much larger friend. Goblin Demolisher and Giant have joined the Merge Tactics roster!
Goblin Demolisher (Goblin & Warrior)
He’s a Goblin. And he Demolishes. Upon falling below 50% HP, Goblin Demolisher runs to the enemy with the lowest HP and explodes, causing area-of-effect damage!
Giant (Titan & Superstar)
A Giant improvement to the troop roster! Giant throws the enemy closest to him every few seconds, damaging them based on their Max HP (more Max HP = more ouch).
Other Troop Roster Changes
The Merge Tactics troop roster is changing up! Archer, Baby Dragon, Giant Skeleton, and Knight are back, while Bandit, Electro Giant, Electro Wizard, Executioner, Princess, Royal Ghost, and Spear Goblin are heading out. We don’t know where they’re going. We’re a little concerned, actually.
