Classic Challenges can be found on the game modes switcher.
These challenges are divided into 3 types: Grand, Mega Draft, and Classic. Each victory in these challenges grants separate rewards. Classic Challenges end when you reach 12 wins or take 3 losses.
Unlock Classic Challenges at King Level 8.

Matchmaking
Matchmaking in Challenges is based on your number of wins! Keep in mind, all cards and Towers are capped at level 11, so that everyone battles on an even playfield.
